About Blueberry Blessings Farm

Blueberry Blessings Farm is 27 acres of beautiful blueberry fields. On top of u-pick activities they also offer their facilities as a venue for parties and weddings.

During blueberry season they offer u-pick blueberries where blueberry picking buckets and bags are provided. They also have festivities like an easter egg hunt around easter and a pumpkin patch in the fall.

They are not a certified organic farm however their website does say that they do not spray any pesticides.

The barn at blueberry blessings farm is right next to the blueberry fields and decorated in adorable wooden flowers and butterflies. There are cute white rockers out front to sit on and this is where you pick up your buckets and pay when you are finished.

Our Visit to the Farm

When you arrive there is a decent sized grassy area where you can park. The parking lot is pretty close to the barn which is where you’ll pick up your supplies.

The whole process is contactless which is nice but a little confusing at first.

On the left side of the barn there are buckets with bags in them and if they aren’t too busy there are wagons available for public use. Grab a bucket for every 1-2 people in your group and a wagon if you want to pull your kiddos out to the blueberry field.

The field is out to your left and they are full of ripe delicious berries. A ripe blueberry is very dark blue or purple in color and comes off the bush easily in your hand. We had good luck picking close to the front of the field but going towards the back is usually less picked over.

There are speakers playing bird noises and balloon men out in the field to scare away any animals that may try to eat the berries. It is HOT in the Florida sun and the bushes offer almost no shade. Make sure you bring water, sunscreen and a hat to try and stay cool and comfortable. I also recommend visiting as early in the morning as you can.

Once you are done picking (and eating) as many berries as you want can head back to the barn to check out. Along the way you may want to stop by one of the many photo ops they have set up to take some fun pictures.

Next to where you picked up your buckets there are stations to bag up your berries and leave your basket. Then you take your berries to the back of the barn to be weighed and pay.

After that (or before) feel free to enjoy the picnic area, lawn games and decorations.

Blueberry Season

Blueberry season in Tampa, and Florida in general, is from early April through mid May. Florida’s blueberry season isn’t very long season so make sure you are following along on Facebook so that you are alerted as soon as u-pick starts.

Tips

  • Wear the right clothes. Make sure they are functional, ok to get a little dirty and lightweight.
  • As I mentioned before. It is hot in the sun and there is very little shade. Make sure you bring sunblock, plenty of water and maybe a hat to wear.
  • The farm is subject to weather related closures so I recommend always checking online or calling before visiting to make sure they are open when you want to visit.
  • No animals are allowed on the farm.
