Flower Picking Tips
- Bring a cooler with snacks and water. Picking flowers is hard work under the hot sun and you are all sure to work up an appetite.
- Bring extra water to help the flowers stay fresh on the ride home
- There is no shade out in a flower field. Make sure you bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and anything else you may need to stay cool and protected from the sun.
- Make sure you wear shoes that can get dirty or be cleaned later. You are outside in the dirt. Most places also recommend closed toed shoes, some may even require it so check before going.
- Lastly make sure to bring your own flower cutters or scissors. Most places will not provide them and this way there will be nothing stopping you from getting out there.
Flower Farms in Florida
Thanks to the warm weather in Florida some farms plant sunflowers twice a year! Once in the fall and once in the spring. Some farms only plant one flower crop a year. The farms are also at the mercy of weather patterns and mother nature so the exact dates of blooms are very flexible.
Make sure you follow along on each farm’s website or social media in order to know when they are open for flower picking.
Many of these farms also offer other produce for picking or purchase, this is a great way to support local farmers and get fresh food at a lower price than your grocery store.
I hope you have so much fun picking flowers at one (or all) of these flower farms in Florida. If there is a farm I missed that you feel deserves to be on the list please let me know in the comments below.
