When to Visit Sunflower Fields in South Florida
Sunflower season in South Florida can be in the Spring or in the Fall and sometimes it’s both. Thanks to the long warm summer months many Florida farmers get two growing seasons every year. Once sunflowers reach their peak they stay in full bloom for about 10-14 days so you won’t want to delay visiting.
Each farm will vary in what plants they plant at what times and how much they plant. So I recommend following each farm on Facebook, Instagram or their newsletter for the most up to date information. At the very least call and check the farm hours before you make the drive out to these South Florida sunflower fields for the day so that you aren’t disappointed upon arrival.

Tips For Visiting Sunflower Fields
- There are bees and bugs outside in these working fields. The majority of the time if you don’t bother them, they’ll leave you alone too.
- Bring a cooler with snacks and plenty of water. Picking flowers in the warm weather is hard work and you are all sure to work up an appetite.
- Bring extra water to help the flowers stay fresh on the ride home
- There is no shade out in a flower field. Make sure you bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and anything else you may need to stay cool and protected from the sun.
- Make sure you wear shoes that can get dirty or be cleaned later. You are outside in the dirt. Most places also recommend closed-toe shoes, some may even require it so check before going.
- For great pictures, get to the sunflower fields early if you can. This way you can avoid the crowds and enjoy the sunrise. Otherwise, golden hour at sunset will offer the best lighting for pictures.
