What to Bring into Universal Studios Orlando

So you’re in Orlando and you need to know what to bring into Universal Studios. You are going to have a blast and my best advice is to not overpack. You have to carry around whatever you bring in with you all day long. That can get heavy and tiring after a few hours.

Universal Studios is a fun place but like other amusement parks you will spend a lot of time standing in lines and being on your feet. They do have lockers to keep your belongings in but they are small so be prepared to fit everything in them.

Overall, Universal is a fun place to visit for kids and adults so make the most of your time there!

Small Backpack or Fanny Pack

I recommend bringing in a small backpack or fanny pack to carry around the necessities while keeping your hands free. The lockers at each ride are TINY though so try to split up belongings among family members in several different small bags.

This way each person can get a locker and you can store everything for free rather than pay for one larger locker which were really expensive.

Credit Card and ID

If you purchase your park tickets online then you will need your ID to verify your ticket as you enter the park.

I also recommend bringing your credit card to purchase anything you wish to buy in Universal Studios. A credit card is best for a couple reasons. You get cash back on any purchases (if you don’t then I recommend a different credit card), you are protected against purchases made in the unfortunate event that it gets stolen, and it is more compact than cash.

If you don’t use credit cards then debit card or cash will work as well.

Reusable Water Bottle(s)

Everything inside Universal Studios (or really any amusement park) is inflated including the price of water. Bring a reusable water bottle like this skinny insulated bottle to avoid having to buy water. There are water fountains located through out the park, usually by the restrooms, where you can fill them up for free throughout the day.

Phone

A phone is always handy but you will definitely want it with you at the park. Make sure you have the Universal Orlando Resort app downloaded so that you can check line wait times, pre-order food, and have a map to the park handy.

Another great use of your phone is to have games to play in line. Group games like “Heads-Up” are fun to play and make the time pass so much faster. You can also use your phone to call an Uber or Lyft when you need to go back to your hotel.

Portable Charger

You will be using your phone A LOT at the park and batteries don’t last all day anymore. Make sure you come prepared with a portable charger so that you don’t have to worry about your phone dying.

This Anker charger can charge a phone 3 times. It has amazing reviews and I haven’t had any issues with mine. Plus it is super compact so carrying it around all day is no problem.

Sun Protection

The next item to bring into Universal Studios is sun protection. Luckily most of the lines are indoors or covered areas so you won’t get burnt standing in line. However throughout the rest of the park there isn’t much shade and the Florida sun can get hot.

Coming prepared with sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses will make sure that your are protected and comfortable all day long.

Nobody wants to get sunburnt on vacation.

Umbrella

You never know when it might rain, especially in Florida, and walking around wet clothes is miserable. So bringing a small umbrella or poncho will keep you dry and comfortable no matter the weather.

Snacks

This one is optional because there are some delicious foods to try inside Universal Studios. However, all that delicious food is really expensive so you can cut down on your food costs by bringing some snacks in with you.

This way you can still try the food at meal times but you won’t spend a fortune every time someone starts feeling a little bit hungry.

Lip Balm

I never go anywhere without chapstick, honestly I don’t feel my best unless I have good hydrated lips. Don’t get stuck with dry chapped lips during your visit. Bring along a tube or two to stay feeling your best.

Hair Supplies

I don’t know about you but my hair is a disaster after riding a roller coaster or two. By either wearing your hair in braids or another similar style it can keep your hair contained and looking good.

Or you can bring a brush and hair ties to use throughout the day.

Pain Medicine

Roller coasters and noisy amusement parks give me headaches every time without fail. I have learned to just bring along a small bottle or ziplock bag with some Tylenol or ibuprofen. Then when I feel a headache forming I can deal with it quickly.

I will also sometimes take an Ibuprofen in the morning to ward the headache off before it even starts.

What to Bring into Universal Studios

Well, there you have it, this is everything I brought and recommend you bring into Universal Studios.

Universal Studios was such a fun park to visit and they really did an amazing job with The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. That section is truly magical and transports you to a whole other world.

I would love to visit again and explore it more in depth since for time and budget purposes we only visited Diagon Alley. They have the Harry Potter section split between Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. Something to keep in mind since it is significantly more expensive to visit both parks.

Now you are well prepared to visit Universal Studios, have a great visit!
