Pineapple Vase Centerpiece

Have you ever seen a pineapple vase? I hadn’t either before, talk about unique ideas that will blow your friends and family away.

I LOVE pineapples! Like a lot lol. So last summer I planned a summer kick-off party that was entirely pineapple themed. It was awesome! I planned all kinds of pineapple decorations like this fun pineapple garland!

One thing I made for that party were these amazing pineapple vase’s. The vases were stunning and everyone at the party loved them. They scream summer to me and are a little girly too. These pineapple vases are perfect for casual summer get-togethers, bridal showers, and a fun girl’s night.

DIY Pineapple Vase

Now in order to make them you only need a couple of things.

Supplies:

  • Pineapple
  • Pineapple De-corer (we didn’t have one of these so it is possible to do this without one, but it is 10x easier if you have a pineapple corer)
  • Spoon
  • Knife
  • Flowers

Making the Pineapple Vase

Now to make a pineapple into a pineapple vase. It is the perfect shape to become a vase but the hard part is getting out all the pineapple guts. This is where a corer comes in handy.

You start by simply cutting off the top of the pineapple. Just lay the pineapple on its side and chop.

Now use the pineapple de-corer if you have one to get the tough center out. If you don’t have a corer this is going to take like 30 minutes longer but YOU CAN DO IT.

Start by cutting around the edge of the pineapple while doing your best to not cut through the skin. Then take a spoon and start scooping out the pineapple guts just like you would a pumpkin. What you’re going to have to watch out for is the pineapple core. It is tough and attached to the bottom of the pineapple. I had my husband do this part because he is stronger than me. He CAREFULLY cut the core from the base to separate it from the pineapple.

After you get that out continue to scrape away at the inside of the pineapple until it is the size you need to hold the bouquet that will go inside.

You now have your pineapple vase! If it leaks water that means you accidentally looked through the pineapples skin. Just put the water and flowers in a plastic bottle and place that inside that pineapple. Otherwise simply fill the pineapple itself with water and arrange your flowers as desired!

Helpful Tips:

I chose a summery bouquet that had lots of pink in it and it looked AMAZING against the pineapple yellow.

I was worried about the acidity of the pineapple killing the flowers faster but they lasted about a week and a half which is plenty long in my book. That is why I don’t recommend spending the extra time cutting a bottle to fit the pineapple vase unless it leaks water.

Pineapple Party!

The pineapple party was a huge success! Along with the vases and the garland I already mentioned for decorations we had grilled pineapple to eat, absolutely delicious. And in the pool there was a GIANT pineapple floaty. I’d go to another pineapple party any day of the week lol.

Happy Summer!

I hope this project brings you as much joy and excitement as it did for me. Like always, please leave any questions, concerns or suggestions in the comments!

So cute!!!!! Did the pineapple vases stay fresh? Could I hollow out my pineapples the day before my party and still have them looking nice and not drying out?

Ya you could definitely hallow them out the day before! I kept the vases with the flowers in them for a few days after the party and they did great. They didn’t even smell bad so unless you live somewhere where things mold really fast (like Florida because of the humidity) then you should be good.
