DIY Black and White Painted Clay Pot

This DIY painted clay pot craft was so easy and the result was so cute, I definitely encourge everyone to give it a try even if you aren’t super artistic! I decided to give this a go when I wanted to dress up my newly repotted cacti and succulents. They had all been in one planter to begin with but when they started to really struggle I decided to put each plant in its own pot so I could give them more one on one attention. It really helped, especially for my cacti. Since the whole replanting process was an experiment I didn’t want to drop a lot of money on new pots; I went to the thrift store and found some cheap pots.

When my cacti and succulent started perking up and doing better I decided that instead of putting them through the turmoil of replanting again, and to save money on pots, I would just spruce up the pots I had already bought. I loved the simple design of the closed eyes and the contrast of back on white so from there it was simply doing it!

Supplies:

Instructions:

Simply apply the paint with a sponge paint brush like this one. The terra cotta pot did require 3-4 coats of white paint to cover the orange.

Next comes the eyes, I practiced the eyes on paper about 100x before actually drawing them on the pot to make sure I got them right. They turned out so well!! When you’ve practiced your design enough and feel comfortable, simply use the sharpie to draw it on the pot.

This would be such an easy craft to personalize and you can do any color since all you need is a sharpie. You could also use mod podge and glitter to make polka dots for a more attention grabbing fun pot.
