Cypress Point Park: What You Need to Know + Family Pictures

If you are in Downtown Tampa and looking for a nearby beach then stop by Cypress Point Park. Only minutes from the airport this small beach offers a stunning place to watch the sunset. Thanks to its proximity to the city and the fact that parking is free, many people like to visit the park during their lunch breaks.

Because Cypress Point Park is so close to the airport you often see planes flying overhead which is really fun. Especially if you have young kids that like to watch them!

This may not be one of the award winning beaches like others nearby like Clearwater or St Pete Beach but you can’t beat the atmosphere. It is small and intimate though which can give you a nice break from the crowds. After a busy weekend the beach can get a little dirty but the park department does a great job keeping it clean as a whole.

Cypress Point Park may not have the biggest beach in Tampa Bay but it is a well equipped park for anything you may need. At the beach you can swim or fish or kayak in the water. Along with the beach area there is a popular disc golf course, a playground, and a volleyball court to play at. There are also shelters with picnic tables, grills, trails to walk along, restrooms and showers!

Pro Tip: For all its perks this beach does have one big downside, there are bugs. So make sure to bring along some bug spray especially if you plan on being down near the water.

Family Pictures at Cypress Point Park

Cypress Point Park is a great place for family pictures because on top of having the beach and amazing sunsets, there are also wild grasses and lightly wooded areas that offer diverse backgrounds for your pictures.

We used a local photographer Taz Smith Photography and I cannot recommend him enough! He was awesome to work with and delivered exactly what I was looking for!

Hi, where exactly did you park at Cypress park for your photos. We are having photos taken there this weekend and I love the backgrounds you have.. Just want to be sure how to get to that location of the park/beach..

So we parked at 5620 W Cypress St Parking. That is what it says in google.

Then as you walk into the park you will see a pavilion or two straight ahead. BEFORE the pavilions on the left is a sand path. That is where you want to go. The beach is semi-circle shaped which I loved because I felt it made the pictures feel more intimate.

I hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions.
