Our Visit to Österlenkryddor Farm Shop
We almost always visit Sweden in the winter for the holidays, so when we started planning this trip for the summertime I was so excited. The summer weather is perfect for exploring and of course, all the flowers are in bloom. Anyone who knows me will tell you how much I love flower fields. When I found Österlenkryddor farm shop it was a match made in heaven.
We had the best time. We rented a large van for two days to drive our family and my in-laws around Skåne and see what it had to offer. This was one of my favorite stops although there were a lot of good ones. We stopped by after lunch to try their award-winning ice cream for dessert.
We pulled into a large gravel parking lot with plenty of space for our large vehicle. To the left was the farm shop, ice cream shop and flower fields. On the right, there was a small amount of construction happening. My son loved watching the big tractors and machines at work.
The farm shop is owned by a husband and wife duo and the wife makes the ice cream herself! I love the homey feel of the whole farm. Their lavender ice cream is probably their most popular. I didn’t try that one because I don’t love floral flavors. However, I did try the saffron, hazelnut, pistachio and raspberry flavors. Each one was really good, the hazelnut was my favorite and the saffron was my husband’s favorite!
After we all enjoyed the ice cream we walked over to the lavender fields to admire the flowers. We were there after peak bloom by a week or two but they were still beautiful. Guests are welcome to walk through the rows of lavender and take pictures, which we definitely did.
Before we left we headed into the actual farm shop itself to see what they were currently selling. There were rows and rows of dried spices, oils, pots, plants, locally made food items and cute decor for sale. There was also a large room with tables that looked like it could be an event room, I didn’t ask though.
Österlenkryddor Ice Cream
The ice cream house is open during the summer months and is filled with a variety of flavors of ice cream. Several of these flavors have won awards throughout Sweden such as the award-winning lavender ice cream. The ice cream is made from locally sourced ingredients which is a great bonus.
You can order individual flavors in a homemade wafer or in a cup. Another fun option, especially for a family or small group is to order the ice cream tray. On the frozen wood board, you can try four different flavors with two wafer cups. It is a stunning presentation and all the ice cream is delicious.

Skåne Lavender Field
The lavender field is a beautiful rectangular plot of land. The well-manicured rows of lavender bushes are spaced far enough apart to leave plenty of room for people to walk between them. Always treat the flowers with kindness and respect. These are crops that the owners use to make products like their famous lavender ice cream.
Lavender fields, like most fields of flowers, are the perfect place to snap a few pictures. There are so many ways to pose with flowers and you can take some cute family or solo pictures while here.
If you are visiting at the perfect time of year during peak bloom in the summer there is a special event you can join. They offer a paid event called Lavender Morning. Guests come to the farm shop for early mornings in the field and hear about lavender, its uses as well as how to grow some. Then you get to pick lavender to take home while sipping on a sparkling lavender drink. Finally, the experience is finished off with a lunch of sandwiches and lavender ice cream.
It sounds like a dream! I wish we hadn’t missed it by only a couple of weeks.

Farm Shop Tips
- Please treat everything with respect. From the flowers to the buildings to the goods they sell. The true charm in places like this lies with the people. They will only continue to open up the area to guests if it is treated properly.
- Do not pick the lavender unless you have been given permission. It is a crop that is used in products they sell. These are not free flowers.
- If you can afford it, purchase ice cream or items from the farm shop when you visit. The profits go to support the farm shop and the farmers. I hope they are around for many, many years to come.
