DIY: Paper Pineapple Garland

Free pineapple printable! At the bottom of this post is a free pineapple printable that you can use as a tracer for your pineapple garland. Or you can print it straight on the colored paper you’ll use. It is the first printable I’ve made so go easy on the judging eyes and let me know what you think! Is this something you want to see more of??

I LOVE pineapples. I think they’re very cute and classy and just so happy and fun. So two years ago now (gosh time goes so fast!) I threw a summer kickoff party for my husbands selling team and their wives and it was pineapple themed. We made the most delicious grilled pineapple, I made pineapple vases for the flowers and I made a cute pineapple garland!

This post does contain a couple of affiliate links. There is no added cost to you and it allows me to make money off of each purchase you make.

The Original Garland

So when I first made it I drew it out by hand on white paper, cut that out and used it to trace the pineapples onto the construction paper I used. It took a long time and was kind of tedious.

Although I can’t take all the work out for you I made your job a little easier but making a FREE printable that you can either use to trace onto paper yourself or print right onto the colored paper.

You are still going to have to cut all the shapes out yourself and glue the green tops onto the pineapple body.

To hang the pineapples up and make them an actual garland you’ll need some type of twine or yarn or ribbon and clips.

Instructions

Time needed: 1 hour

  1. Print out the Printable

Begin by printing out the desired number of pineapple printouts on their respective colored paper. This way they are ready to go as a group. I recommend printing about 8-10 for a standard table garland.

Tip: If you’re unsure how many you’ll need do step 3 first and then approximate 1 pineapple for every 4 inches of twine.

  2. Cut and Glue

Now we have the super fun job of cutting out all of the pieces from the paper. Maybe watch an episode of your favorite show while you do this step. Next glue the green tops on to the yellow bottoms making sure the green is on top of the yellow and the black ink lines are facing the back. You don’t want the black facing out for everyone to see because it doesn’t look as good.

  3. Cut your Twine

While the glue is drying on the pineapples measure out the length of twine you’ll need. This will depend on where you are hanging it, just make sure it is long enough to reach from end to end with a slight curve through the middle. Then cut the twine to that desired length.

  4. Clip on the Pineapples

Next hang up your twine and place the clips at even intervals (about 4 inches apart) across the length of the twine. Then clip on the pineapples and TADA your cute pineapple garland is done!

If you don’t want to buy the mini clothes line clips you could also use a hole punch and punch holes at the top of each pineapple and simply thread the twine through the holes.
