Saint George, Utah is the single most outdoor-sy city I have ever been too, and living in Utah that is saying a lot. Utah has a lot to offer in the outdoors department from hiking, to skiing, to mountain biking trails and so on. The mountains lend towards an active outdoor life.

I myself am not super outdoor-sy for the most part but I do love to ski and I’ve gone on quite a few hikes including The Narrows and Mt. Timpanogos. But when we visited Saint George in southern Utah for a few days I was impressed with the outdoor nature of the WHOLE city.

LDS Temple

We got there at about 1 or 2 in the afternoon and after looking up a last minute hotel using the app “Hotel Tonight” we decided to stop by the LDS Saint George temple for a quick photoshoot. We had a great time walking around the manicured lawn in the warm sunshine and taking pictures with the flowers and the unique building itself.

Next we tried to find the main street hoping that we could walk along it and window shop and find something to eat! It was a major fail as there was not much to see there at all. We quickly realized this and decided to drive and get a drink from Swig, a local soda place that serves specialty sodas.

Water Tower

Then we drove up to an old water tower which is not the big tall round ones held up by steel. This was a concrete structure set into the side of a hill. It was the perfect look out spot over all of Saint George and we watched the sunset. There was some chalk left up there that we drew with while we waited for the actual sunset. That was a ton of fun and I definitely suggest visiting if you’re in Saint George and you need an evening activity. After it got dark we drove back into town.

Pizza Factory

We ate dinner at The Pizza Factory, which, I’ll be honest, I don’t think is worth the money. We got a deep dish pizza but it was no more “deep” than a normal pizza yet it was a lot more expensive.

ORANGE PEEL!!!!

The next morning though we got breakfast smoothies at The Orange Peel. IT IS THE BEST PLACE EVER! Get their smoothie “The Dude” with or without pearls. It will change your life. Now, every time we drive through Saint George on our way to Vegas we stop and get one. We also found out there is another Orange Peel in Sandy, UT, and we’ve stopped there a time or two as well. Suffice to say that we are a bit obsessed, and rightfully so.

Hiking

Then we headed out to try and find the hike that would lead us to some petroglyphs, we never found the petroglyphs but we did find a really great look out point where we took some awesome pictures. And I had a small dance party to YMCA haha.

After that my husband had to work (that was the real reason for the trip) so I just went shopping at a local second hand store that was really similar to Plato’s Closet. Then we headed home. We ended up having a really great time during our one day there! Hopefully I get to explore more of Saint George, UT another time.
